Interview Tips

Hi everyone, welcome to my first blog post. Over the coming weeks I will provide tips and techniques on performing well in an interview situation, writing a professional resume and effective study habits.

A few quick tips when you are attending an interview:

Tip 1:

Never be late! Ensure you give yourself plenty of time to find the interview location, and allow for traffic and public transport delays. You don’t want to arrive flustered, sweaty and late. Don’t go and sit in the waiting room too early either, as this can be annoying. Arrive calm and relaxed about 10 minutes before your scheduled interview time (unless otherwise specified).

Tip 2:

Dress appropriately. First impressions are everything! If you are applying for a corporate position, ensure you are wearing a smart outfit, closed shoes and your hair is neat and tidy. If you are going for a creative role, find out what the vibe is of the company and dress to suit this. If you are unsure, it is better to be slightly overdressed than under.

Tip 3:

Research your prospective employer. There is nothing worse than being asked what you know about a company, and realising you have nothing to say! Employers like to know that you have done some investigating. Memorise facts about the company such as staff numbers, revenue, different departments, mission statements, and what interests you about working for them.

More tips to follow in the coming weeks!

Happy job hunting,
